Lying fifth in the Northern League’s First Division new boys Carlisle City will fancy their chances of cementing their fine start on Saturday.
The Sky Blues entertain Seaham Red Star, who are next to bottom with just a point but who haven’t scored a goal in their first three games.
Manager Jim Nichols will insist there’s no complacency from his side, especially as they will go into the game having beaten title favourites Bishop Auckland in mid-week.
Nichols said: “They are strongly fancied, have spent a bit of money on players and hadn’t conceded a goal until we went there and won 1-0 on Tuesday.
“It was a great effort which owed everything to attitude, desire, discipline and fitness. Sometimes you can’t play the football you want to and we showed those qualities to get the job done.
“In all honesty we will have a couple back for Saturday but I don’t know how I’m going to change that team from Tuesday.
“We have a really tough start on paper, especially with our away games, so we are really pleased with how we’ve gone so far. It’s been really good and pleasing because we knew we needed to start the season well.”
Indeed City could be looking back on three straight wins but they were held by Sunderland RCA in the first match, pegged back by an equaliser in stoppage time.
They are also through to the preliminary round of the FA Cup having beaten West Auckland on Saturday and are looking forward to a visit from Goole Town on August 20.
