Two goals in a three-minute spell early in the game set up Barrow’s 2-1 home win over Walsall.
It moved the Furness side up to fifth in the table – and was a result and performance which was especially pleasing for manager Pete Wild.
“I thought we moved the ball around as well as we have done so far in any of our games.
“It was front foot, aggressive football. We try to win the ball as high up the field as possible and set traps for the opposition.
“It’s the way we want to play and I think we put on a show for the fans,” he said.
Both goals came from set pieces and from summer signings Tyrell Warren and Sam McClelland.
In the ninth minute Warren got on the end of a Patrick Brough corner and then it was Chelsea loanee McClelland who powered a header past keeper Owen Evans.
It was Evans who kept Barrow in the game by making two fine stops later in the half to deny the tricky Ben Whitfield.
Two minutes into the second half and Walsall were back in the contest when top-scorer Danny Johnson notched his sixth goal of the season.
Walsall, desperate to retain their unbeaten record, enjoyed late pressure and Timmy Abraham missed a great opportunity to level the contest.
