The HTA senior championship leader Duchess Ava finally got moving again with her 10th win of the season last night.

It’s been slow going for James McLelland’s bitch who has virtually led the table from the start of the season.

The challengers have been lining up but none of them have got to within two points of her, until Hunter’s Flame did on Monday.

However at Sandale last night Duchess Ava regained her three point advantage when she took the opening trail by beating the in-form Jenny’s Quest.

Puppy table leader Huntsman’s Rebel has a massive lead at the top and she extended it over the Sandale course which has proved to be a favourite of hers.

She moved to 27 wins and beat her former kennel-mate Huntsman’s Rally now trained by Raymond and Glenis Farren.

The open non-winners went to the Napier family’s Foxparke Who Gives a Toss, beating Tony Jackson, Ian Rudd and Steph Steel’s Kinniside Bobby.

The final trail of the night was the open restricted which went to Overwater Louie who beat the veteran Miterdale Shadow.

There was a noticeable increase in runners, suggesting that most are now over the recent virus.

There was an additional prize presented last night for the hound with the most points across the three recent Sandale trails.

The winner was Lady Million owned by Brian and Joy Lister.

The cheque was presented by Andy Horn, chairman of the Aspatria and Wigton Area. The prize had been sponsored by Willie Gill, one of the farmers who allows trails to be staged over his land.
