£500 boost from Story Homes to help village buy life-saving kit

Story Homes has donated £500 to a north Cumbrian village to help residents buy a defibrillator.

The housing developer donated the cash to the trustees of Thursby Parish Hall after it was contacted by John Regan, vice chair to see if it could support their fundraising efforts.

Story Homes has a development in Thursby, known as St Andrew’s View, and is currently seeking planning approval for a second phase of 67 homes on land west of its current development.

John said: “The trustees were extremely grateful for the very kind donation towards our Defibrillator Project. We now have a fully functioning unit fixed to our external wall which we know will be a tremendous asset to our local community.

“As well as a defibrillator housed in a secure and accessible storage box, we were also able to provide a movement sensor light above and a dedicated direct contact 999 phone link. This last item was necessary as mobile reception in the area is unreliable.

“Without the support from Story Homes we would have struggled to provide such a comprehensive package.”
