Barrow manager Pete Wild has expressed his disappointment at losing the Papa John’s Trophy game at home to Man Utd under-21s.
The League Two side went down 2-1 after conceding a goal in the second minute of time added on by Alejandro Garnacho.
Wild said: “We have got to do better in managing games. I know they have some very good young players but they only had three shots at goal and scored twice.
“We had our opportunities but weren’t clinical enough where it mattered.”
A penalty two minutes before half-time had given United the lead after home keeper Scott Maloney had brought down Charlie McNeill. It was McNeill who converted the spot kick.
Barrow drew level six minutes into the second half through an own goal and had certainly more opportunities than the visitors to win it after that.
Wild added: “On the positive side we gave game time and minutes to players who haven’t been involved as much and one or two of them gave me something to think about.
“I will discuss that with the staff before Mansfield on Saturday when we will be looking to get back to winning ways.”
Wild said there had been one injury scare when substitute Sam Foley had to come off but the knock to his shoulder should be fine within a couple of days.
