After a very poor performance against Consett a week earlier Carlisle gave a much improved performance at home to Durham City.
But really that was just the first half and after the change round the visitors took control to run out 45-0 winners.
Carlisle certainly fronted up at the start and kept Durham penned in their own half for the first five minutes.
However, a high tackle earned centre Ellis Little a yellow card and Durham were quick to exploit the extra man, racing up-field to score under the posts for an easy seven-pointer.
Carlisle reorganised and for the next 15 minutes were camped in the Durham half, and most of that only five metres out from the try line.

Only some desperate defending from Durham, and repeated penalties kept Carlisle at bay. The visitors were lucky not to lose a man to the bin because of the number of infringements, and Carlisle were frustrated not to score in that period.
Carlisle started to lose ground until a 22 metre penalty gave them an opportunity to put points on the board, but the kick was pushed wide.
Durham used the break in play to push Carlisle back, and some rapid interplay between their backs saw them advance down the left, where their winger seemed to roll and jink through three tackles before crossing on the left for their second try on 35 minutes.
Carlisle tried to get back into the half, and although they finished the half again in the Durham half, they were unable to convert possession into points and finished 12-0 down.
The second half performance from Carlisle was in complete contrast to the first.

A poor re-start gave Durham a scrum on half way, which they utilised to give their backs the opportunity to score their third try with just two minutes gone.
A 50-22 from them earned a line-out 10 metres out from Carlisle’s try line. An overthrow found a Durham player at the back of the lineout and with the Carlisle defence caught out, he crashed over for their bonus point try with just 49 minutes on the clock.
Carlisle then found themselves reorganising the backs as scrum half Max Connon was taken off with a knee injury, and defensively Carlisle were creaking.
With lock Batty down injured, Durham again exploited the extra man to score their fifth try on 55 minutes.
From then on it was a defensive effort to try to keep the score down, with few opportunities for Carlisle to get into an attacking position.
When they finally did manage to get into a position to attack Durham, an interception gave the visitors their sixth try, and heads were down by the time Durham scored their seventh and final try at the end.
