A Lake District hotel group has been handed an accolade for its accommodation at a leading industry awards ceremony.
Lake District Country Hotels, which runs Windermere’s Cragwood House the Merewood Hotel and Briery Wood Hotel, was named Accommodation Provider of the Year at the UKinbound’s Awards for Excellence
UKinbound, is a travel trade association that represents over 340 tourism businesses.
Following self-nomination, the winners were decided by a panel of independent judges from across the tourism sector.
Joss Croft, chief executive of UKinbound, said: “We were delighted to name Lake District Country Hotels Accommodation Provider of the Year. The judges loved the winner’s focus on sustainability and wider corporate social responsibility. They demonstrated a real care for staff during the pandemic, and also worked outside their own business on lobbying and advocacy for the sector.”
Joe Cobb, the group’s executive manager, said: “We are delighted that our hotel group has been recognised as Accommodation Provider of the Year in the UK. We believe that our hotels offer that quintessential English country house experience, so to be awarded by such a body is wonderful news for our team.”
The group has also just been shortlisted in the prestigious Hotel Catey Awards in the best use of technology category, which recognises businesses and individuals delivering technology innovation that has made a tangible difference to their businesses in the last 12 months.
Mr Cobb added: “The Cateys are widely recognised as the Oscars of the hospitality industry, so to be shortlisted alongside some of the best hotels in the country is something our team are most proud of. We decided to invest in new ways to engage with our guests both before they arrive at the hotel and then once they’re here, so to be recognised for this is most pleasing.”
