Kendal Town are bidding for a third win on the spin tonight when they host Keswick in a Westmorland County Cup-tie.
The Mintcakes won 2-1 at Atherton on Saturday in the Macron Cup after a mid-week victory over Ashton Athletic in the North West Counties League.
Chairman Michael O’Neill said: “Hopefully that’s a good confidence boost for the team as we now face two more Cup games in a row.
“We fell behind at Atherton but got back on terms fairly quickly and for the last 30 minutes or so were clearly the better team.
“They hadn’t been doing so well and are in the bottom three of the League below. They had just brought in a new manager and you wonder about the bounce effect, especially the way they started and looked very well organised.”
Atherton had taken the lead on 30 minutes through Jamie Hill but when Rob Parker levelled on 57 minutes Kendal took control.
They had to wait, however, until the fourth minute of stoppage time for Steve Yawson to grab the winner.
“So much is positive off the field but at the end of the day it’s results that people notice, so hopefully we can start moving forward now on the field,” said O’Neill.
After tonight’s County Cup-tie with Keswick (ko 7-45pm) the Mintcakes are at home on Saturday in the FA Vase to Longridge Town, currently two points behind them in the NCL Premier Division.
