Mountain rescue teams were called out after a man twisted his knee yesterday.

The walker was with a party of four and became unable to walk after he fell just below the top of Haystacks.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team attended, but requested further assistance from Keswick as they were short on team members.

A team of five was despatched to assist, where they drove to Dubs Hut and walked up from there. They met with the Cockermouth team and helped carry the casualty down on a stretcher.

A Keswick team spokesman said: “It was good to be able to pay back a favour as Cockermouth have helped us out on many occasions in recent times when we were short. Cockermouth still have a few credits left!”

The incident involved nine Keswick team members and lasted three hours and six minutes.
