Whitehaven have announced three pre-season games ahead of the 2023 Championship campaign.
The LEL Arena side have fixed up their warm-up clashes early this year.
All three games will be played at home, headed by the Ike Southward Memorial Trophy clash with old rivals Workington Town.
That will be followed by the visit of two Super League sides over consecutive weekends in January.
The first pre-season hit out against Town will be on Sunday January 15.
Workington are the current holders of the trophy named after one of Cumbria’s Rugby League greats after a last gasp try by Matty Henson in the 2022 encounter. With the two teams playing in different divisions for 2023 this is scheduled to be the only West Cumbrian derby of the serason.
The following week sees Wigan Warriors visit on Sunday 22nd January as Matty Peer’s men will make the journey to the LEL Arena.
This will be Haven’s first meeting with the Warriors since a defeat back in May 2008 which was a game most remembered for the debut of Sam Tomkins for Wigan.
The final pre-season encounter will follow a week later and will see more Super League opposition visit the LEL Arena with details to be revealed later this week.
All of these fixtures will kick off at 3pm.
