Jordan Wylie

An award-winning British adventurer and Guinness World Record holder will speak at a Cumbrian charity ball next month.

Jordan Wylie, who was one of the hunters in Channel4’s Hunted, will join the Lord Lieutenant of Cumbria at the Michelle Jurd Trust annual winter ball on Saturday November 26.

The event will raise much-needed funds for the organisation, which provides outdoor adventure experiences for young people across the region.

Jordan said: “I’m really looking forward to being at the ball to support the work of the Michelle Jurd Trust. I really believe that there’s power in the purpose and spirit of adventure, and that it can be a force for good in people’s lives and in the world.”

Jordan, who joined the army aged 16 and served for 10 years with deployments in Northern Ireland and Iraq, will share the story of his experience at the black-tie event.

Michelle Jurd

Since it was established, the Michelle Jurd Trust has enabled schools across the North West to send more than 2,000 young people on outdoor education and cultural activities, as well providing grants to various veterans charities.

Neil Jurd OBE established the organisation in memory of his wife, an RAF helicopter pilot, who died in a car accident in 2009.

He added: “We’re delighted to have Jordan joining us for our winter ball. He’s a fantastic ambassador and, as an adventurer himself, can really attest to the positive impact these kinds of experiences can have on people.

“Michelle loved adventures and lived life to the full, and she’d be delighted that the Trust is there to embody that ethos.”

On the night there’ll be a three-course meal, music and dancing, plus a charity auction, and organisers hope to better the £8,000 raised at least year’s event.

The ball takes place at the Netherwood Hotel & Spa in Grange-over-Sands on Saturday November 26.
