Penrith boss Darren Edmondson took plenty of positives from his side’s 3-1 Northern League Division One defeat at Newton Aycliffe.
The sides had turned round all square at 1-1 and then Penrith hit the woodwork three times – two of them from corners.
Edmondson said: “We were on top at that stage and you could tell we had them worried just looking at their bench.
“They were making changes and altering systems and I’m sure if we could have got a goal then we would have gone on and won it.
“But that’s football. If you don’t take your chances when you are on top you can pay the price.
“They broke and scored a second and then late on a guy just hoofed it from his own half and it sailed over Arran Taylor into our net.
“But against a team who are third in the table there were plenty of good things for us.
“We didn’t play well in the first-half, giving the ball away cheaply and Arran had to make two really good saves.
I guess that's our goal of the season wrapped up. Great goal @CallumMunro2. FT Newton Aycliffe 3 @penrith_afc 1@SoccerAM @SkySportsNews @looknorth @CraigStoddart_ @MarkCarruthers_ @MWalkerMedia @theofficialnl @btsport @GaryLineker @BBCSport @BBCSport pic.twitter.com/4025m3DaFm

“But it was a different story in the second half when we showed what we can do.
“We will go forward now to a home game with Heaton Stannington on Saturday.
“We won there early in the season but they have brought in eight or nine players since then which is what you can do based over there in the north east.”
Eddie Thomas gave the home side the lead on 30 minutes before young striker Alfie Brunskill levelled five minutes later.
Penrith dominated until Liam Anderson finished-off a home breakaway on 76 minutes and five minutes later Callum Munro scored the long range third.
