Wet weather plays havoc with Workington and District Sunday League

The wet weather played havoc with the Workington and District Sunday League programme.

Only one match went ahead as clubs reported waterlogged and unsafe surfaces around the area.

Maryport Athletic were able to get in their game with Flimby Social and they won convincingly 5-0.

Callum Foy (2), Tom Glover and Lewis Mattinson were on target and they also had the assistance of an own goal.

The Sunday County Cup takes preference this week-end with eight ties due to take place with six Egremont League sides joining ten from the Workington League.

The ties are: Lowca Pirates v Mirehouse; Moresby v Seaton Rangers; Maryport Athletic v Blue Bell; Northside v Senhouse; Dearham v Thornhill; Salterbeck v St. Bees; Sun Inn Athletic v Rangers; Sun Inn v FC Cosmos.

In the east the games are: Newlaithes v Longtown; Northbank v Dalston; Harraby Catholic v Dalston Black Reds; Thompsons v Museum Inn; Crusaders v Denton Holme;  Border Towns Utd v Brampton; Currock v Scotby; Inter Pirelli v Gretna.
