A burglar got more than he bargained for after he broke into a Carlisle entertainment venue and stole around £800-worth of items.

The man broke into The Lumber Lounge in Denton Holme, Carlisle, on Thursday at around 9pm.

Police are investigating a report of burglary that occurred at The Lumber Lounge on Loren Street, Carlisle.

As he wandered around the Denton Street venue, looking for items – he completely failed to notice the tree trunk in the middle of the floor and tripped over it.

Owners of The Lumber Lounge have released the CCTV video and asked: “Is this the dumbest thief in Carlisle?”

Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it, quoting incident number 86 of 5th November 2022 or call 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
