Parkside Road Stadium, Kendal

Kendal Town continue to make advances both on and off the field, consolidating after last season’s relegation.

Now playing in the North West Counties League’s Premier Division the Mintcakes have just announced a sponsor for the Parkside Road stadium.

J Robs Ground Maintenance have taken on sponsorship of the stadium, looking to build a strong partnership with the club. The Garstang company specialises in conservation work, and domestic and commercial grounds keeping.

They operate all across the North West and both parties are looking forward to a successful relationship.

Kendal have also announced that striker Steven Yawson has signed a contract to the end of the season with the option of a further year.

Chairman Michael O’Neill said: “Steven is a real fans favourite and obviously we are delighted to have tied up this deal.”

Yawson was on target two minutes from the end with the eighth and final goal in Kendal’s Westmoreland County Cup win over Kirkby Stephen on Saturday.

Man of the match for the Mintcakes was Samuel Ilesanmi who grabbed himself a hat-trick with goals in the 27th, 34th and a 55th minute penalty.

Nathan Hankinson (12), Ryan Winder (47), Brandon Croskell-Robinson (64) and Chris Wraighte (75) scored the other Kendal goals.

Afterwards manager Jimmy Marshall said: “Kirkby Stephen came here and put a good shift in so it was pleasing to win well and keep a clean sheet,

“We got minutes into lads who haven’t played much recently and got through the game without injuries.

“I was especially pleased for Sam who took his goals well and has been extremely patient waiting for his chance.”

Kendal’s next game at Burscough in the Macron Cup has been brought forward from Saturday to Friday night (ko 7.45pm).
