Football fans will be able to cheer on the Three Lions at a series of World Cup 2022 fan zones in Barrow.
England men’s football team begin their campaign against Iran at 1pm on Monday.
Barrow-based events company Pitch Up Events and Carpet World are laying on a fan zone in the superstore, on Walney Road, where fans can come together to support their team.
The fan zone will be open from noon until 10pm and will feature live music, a bar and big screen coverage of the game.
It is the first of three fan zones planned for Carpet World, with two more taking place for England’s group games against the USA on November 25 and Wales on November 29. More fan zones will be organised when and if England make it out of the group stage of the tournament.
Pitch Up Events was set up by three friends from Barrow – Joe Jackson, James Howden and James Bonner – during Euro 2020, when they laid on an open-air fan zone at Holker Old Boys football club.
Other events have included the Pitch Up music festival, in May, and Halloween and Oktoberfest events.
Joe said: “The events we organise are all about bringing people together to enjoy themselves in a way that celebrates the community spirit we have here in Barrow.
“People are facing a lot of challenges and uncertainties in their daily lives at the moment and the World Cup is a great opportunity for them to let off steam and just have some fun with their friends.

“Carpet World is a solid part of the Barrow business community, and it makes a very fitting host for an event which will bring so many people together. We’re grateful to the team at Carpet World for all their help.
“We have only 100 tickets left for the first group game and that’s with Sam Stephens, Barrow favorites Native Cult and first timers at one of our events Meetwood Flac bringing their best performances with LOWES lead singer Evie Plumb giving a rendition of Fleetwood Mac classics. The bands will be on from 5pm fans can join us after work.
“The USA game is nearly sold out and sees the best Coldplay tribute band in the UK Coldplace play in Barrow for the first time straight off the back of their European tour.
“I can’t wait for the tournament to get underway and, fingers crossed, to organise more fan zones for when England make it out of the group stage.”
