Fancy yourself a pub owner? A 17th century community pub is on sale in West Cumbria for £375,000.
The Stump on High Road in Kells, is still running as a pub and is being sold through Yopa by current owners Jaqueline and John Doran, who are retiring after 22 years.
Jaqueline said: “We’re going to be 70 on our next birthdays so that’s why we’re selling up, otherwise we wouldn’t be going because we love it. It has a bit of history behind it, it was built originally as a pub over 100 years ago and its always been a pub since then.
“We’re still running it at the moment as a community pub but if it wasn’t, it would be a beautiful house. It has a lovely view of the harbour and the town and a car park that goes back quite a bit.”
The double fronted stone built property dates back to 1866 and features many original period features including high ceilings, cornices and ceiling roses.
A large entrance hallway leads through to the main bar room, which also boasts a pool room and cellar with access from the bar via a hatch in the floor.
Toilets and a storeroom are also on the ground floor of the building. At the rear of the hall is a sweeping staircase leading up to a large landing area. Just off the landing area is a kitchen, three spacious bedrooms and a family bathroom.
The kitchen has modern fitted wall and base units, built-in gas hob with extractor over, built-in oven and microwave, stainless steel sink and space for fridge freezer and washer.
Towards the front of the landing on the left, is a lounge area which has a feature fireplace and window views across the harbour and over to the fells.
There is also a detached garage, outbuilding, a large car park at the rear, a beer garden area and gardens to the right and the front.
The property is still able to be used as a pub, but would also convert into a family home, subject to relevant planning permission being obtained.
