Work has begun to build a new 54-home retirement village in Kendal.
Alavana Place Retirement Living on Shap Road will offer 33 one-bedroom and 22 two-bedroom retirement apartments for over-60s.
The complex is being built by McCarthy Stone and apartments will be available for off-plan sales in spring next year, while the first residents are expected to move in during winter.
Facilities will include a communal lounge hosting regular events, landscaped gardens, and a hotel-style guest suite enabling visitors to enjoy an overnight stay.
A house manager will be on-site during office hours, while a 24/7 emergency call system and camera entry system means homeowners can feel safe and secure.
