A Carlisle taxi driver is spreading Christmas cheer with his festive singing videos.
Stuart Curtis, 47, of Carlisle, has been sharing videos of himself singing in his cab on social media – all in the name of making people smile.
After finishing a shift, the cabbie said he finds a layby to pull into, picks a song and starts singing away. All his videos are recorded on a special karaoke app and posted to his Facebook page and YouTube channel, the singing taxi driver.
He said: “It just makes you feel good, I’ve been doing them for a while and posting them on social media, with all the stresses we’ve been going through in the past few years it just cheers people up.
“Music is a time machine, it picks me up and takes me back to happy times and it helps with my mental health. A lot of people comment on Facebook and say it has made their day and people come up to me in supermarkets to tell me they’ve seen my singing videos and stuff and if its putting a smile on peoples faces then I’m doing something good.”
Stuart said he has a particular love for 80s icons including Duran Duran and Rick Astley as well as hit Christmas songs, such as Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Merry Xmas Everybody by Slade.
He added: “I just find Christmas songs cosy and they remind me of happy family times when we’re all together, we’ve all grown up with them or had cosy times in the pubs with them, so Christmas songs are just great.
“Singing just has so many benefits, what it does for people it’s mental medicine, we’re surrounded by negative stuff at the minute and its nice to have that break away.”
Stuart also DJs under the name DJ Earth and has worked on and released dance tracks on vinyl in the past.
