Two men accused of involvement in drug production after a £2.2 million cannabis farm was discovered in Whitehaven have appeared in court.
Huy Tran, 23, and 33-year-old Ty Vo each face one charge.
This alleges that Tran and Vo produced cannabis on November 24. It follows the execution of a warrant by police at a property in King Street at around lunchtime on that date.
A large, professionally installed cannabis farm consisting of nine separate grow rooms with plants in various stages of growth is said to have been discovered.
There were almost 1,500 plants with a potential yield of 223.88kg and an estimated street value of £2,238,800.
Tran and Vo, both of no fixed address, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court this morning remotely over a video link.
No pleas were entered by either man to the charge they face with one of the defendants not legally represented. However, a timetable for the progress of the case was set during a 10-minute hearing in front of Judge Nicholas Barker.
This included a date for a provisional trial in front of a jury, which would start in the week of April 10 next year and, it is estimated, will last three to four days.
The men are next due to appear at the crown court on February 17.
In the meantime, work will be carried out to resolve a number of legal issues, with Tran and Vo remanded in custody until then.
