Whitehaven have announced that a second player from the proposed 2023 squad is leaving the club.
Haven have confirmed the release of Josh Eaves from his contract at the player’s request.
Yesterday, the club said that Andrew Bulman’s contract had been cancelled as he had lost his love for the game.
A statement said: “The club is disappointed and did not want to lose Josh but understand his reasons for the release.
“When Josh signed for the club he was starting a teaching degree at university and his placement made him available for training.
“Upon returning for pre-season training Josh informed the coaching staff that he would struggle to make any further training sessions due to his placement being changed after the Christmas period.
“After some deliberation with Josh and the coaching staff it was agreed by all parties the best thing to do was agree to the release.
“All at the club would like to wish Josh well in his future endeavours both on and off the field.”
Haven had announced the signing of Eaves in September who was returning for his second spell after making his professional debut with the club back in 2018 after signing on loan from St Helens.
The hooker made 23 appearances scoring eight tries in the League 1 campaign. In the 2022 season just ended Eaves spent it with Championship rivals Newcastle Thunder, scoring eight tries in 27 games including a try in both encounters with Haven.
He played in Super League since his time with Haven for St Helens, Leigh and Wakefield and last season became an established Championship hooker in his time at Newcastle.
