Members of the Workington and District Camera Club have been reflecting on the first half of their 2022/2023 season which has gone extremely well.
This small, friendly West Cumbrian club has enjoyed a mix of Zoom and face-to-face meetings.
An interesting programme has been put together, including competitions, presentations by locals and speakers from much further afield, now that Zoom is becoming a new way of presenting, and practical nights with all members taking part.
The club members have shown some superb photos and had some good results in in-house competitions.
Along with great results in the external competitions the club have entered both prints and digital photos in what is known as the Western area battle.
This comprises all the photographic clubs in north and west Cumbria and one from Dumfries. Dumfries is one of the top clubs in Scotland and one of the Cumbrian clubs is the top club in England. Workington came a very respectable close third behind these two top clubs.
Workington also entered a competition which is open to all the clubs (45) in the Northern Counties of the UK, when the president David Stephenson had the top photo in the travel division. It was taken of a church in snow in Iceland.
David said: “Workington and District is only a small club – about 25 members – of very mixed photographic abilities, ranging from the beginner to the more experienced, each helping one another with their photography.”
Publicity officer Sue Phillips added: “We as a club welcome any body of any ability, with or without a camera to come along.
“The 2023 season starts again on Friday, January 6 at 7.30pm in Bridgefoot Village Hall, where visitors or potential members will be made very welcome.”
