Barrow have signed 27-year-old Elliot Newby on a deal until the end of next season.
Barrow-born Newby is returning to his home-town club from Stockport but is no stranger to Bluebirds boss Pete Wild.
He spent time on loan at Pete Wild’s FC Halifax Town last season, before returning to his parent club to play a big role in Stockport’s return to the Football League, featuring in the decisive victory over Halifax on the final day of the 2021/22 campaign.
Newby has left a lasting impression on Wild, something which led the boss to ignite a reunion at Barrow.
Wild said: “He’s come on a million miles since he was last at this football club. He’s gone away, vastly developed his game and is a player that ticks all the boxes for us.
“He is dangerous in those wide areas, he can beat people one-on-one, can really drive at the opposition and has an end product too.
“I had Elliot at Halifax last season, and he impressed me immensely.
“Not only is he a good player, he’s a really good lad with a fantastic attitude.
“I actually thought [Halifax] suffered last season when he returned to Stockport, which shows the impact he can have on a side.”
Newby first joined the Bluebirds back in the summer of 2015 and featured 15 times in all competitions during the 2015/16 season, netting once, a goal on his debut, away at Grimsby Town.
