The newly formed Cumberland FA Female Referee Group have booked a top speaker for its first monthly meeting.
Joanna Stimpson, Women’s National Referee Development Manager at The FA, will address the county’s female officials on Wednesday January 25.
Scott Taylor (Cumberland FA referee development officer), said: “The newly formed Cumberland FA Female Referee Group has been created solely for our female match officials to meet monthly for specific training and development. We believe this will help them with their grassroots refereeing.
“One specific aim of the group is to try and encourage more female match officials to move from youth football into open age football, just as Georgia Vyse has done over the past 18 months.
“Georgia has benefited from being in the County CORE Group this season and recently gained a mid-season promotion.
“The County CORE Group was created a few seasons ago to identify and accommodate the needs of referees – who have the potential – with a platform to ensure that they are adequately equipped to referee in open age football and beyond.
“We hope the new Female Referee Group will replicate this and allow others to follow in Georgia’s footsteps.
“We are looking forward to kicking the new year off with our first meeting on January 25 with Joanna Stimpson from The FA as our guest speaker.
“Joanna is the women’s national referee development manager at The FA and comes up to Cumberland with a high reputation of developing women and girls’ refereeing in England.
“I am extremely pleased to have Jo come up to Cumberland and launch our inaugural meeting.”
The meeting is at the CFA Office in Cockermouth from 7pm to 9pm,with registration is from 6.45pm for a prompt 7pm start. This CPD session is for female referees only.
