Kells made comfortable progress in the first round of the BARLA National Cup for Under-14s.

Drawn at home to Ulverston they ran out 48-0 winners, building on a clear 26-0 lead by half-time.

They took seven minutes to open their account when Louie Nightingale got over and soon after Ace Savage doubled the home lead.

Loose forward Ashton Hetherington went over for the third Kells try on 17 minutes and Rhys Williamson was able to put over the conversion.

Williamson converted two more tries before the half-time whistle with Jacob Hodgson and Hetherington both crossing the Ulverston line.

Kells scored four more tries in the second-half, three of which were converted by Williamson.

Hodgson, Tieran Donnan, Frankie O’Reilly and Finn Miller all went over the Ulverston line.

Although well beaten Ulverston competed with great spirit until the end.
