The first Carlisle College Apprenticeship Awards has been held to celebrate those who have championed the career route.
It was one of a series of events held by the college to mark National Apprenticeship Week 2023 and recognised apprentices, staff and employers who have gone above and beyond to champion apprenticeships.
Nominations were made by Carlisle College staff, employers and apprentices before being shortlisted by the college’s senior leadership team.
The guest speaker at the awards ceremony was Geoff Brown, a former Carlisle College joinery apprentice and now construction director at Persimmon Homes, which sponsored the event.
He opened the ceremony by saying: “Apprenticeships are absolutely vital for the long-term success of so many businesses in Cumbria, particularly those in the construction industry. We look forward to strengthening our ongoing partnership with Carlisle College to train and support the skilled workforce of tomorrow.”
