For the second week in a row Josh Kay was the match-winner for Barrow.
After clinching the points at Bradford City he did it again with the only goal to see off in-form visitors Stockport County.
It was a deserving victory for the Bluebirds who had been the better side in the second-half after a dour, but even first period.
Stockport had gone closest to breaking the deadlock in a forgettavle first 45 minutes when Chris Hussey thumped a free-kick against the angle of post and bar.
Home keeper Paul Farman was well beaten and was relieved when the rebound was belted clear by a Barrow defender.
Barrow’s only significant effort had come from recent signing Ged Garner but his shot was deflected wide.
It was a much better game in the second-half, particularly from Barrow and they were certainly more pro-active in attack.
Elliot Newby shot wide, Garner had a well-struck shot saved by Ben Hinchcliffe and Kay was just the wrong side of the post with an acrobatic effort.
Sam McClelland should have done better when he got on the end of a Robbie Gotts’ corner but ballooned the ball high over the bar.
Stockport’s one decent effort came from Isaac Olaofe but he was off target and on 69 minutes Barrow got their goal.
Garner ran strongly at the Stockport defence before setting-up Kay, who drove home a low shot past Hinchcliffe.
Stockport, for all their recent form and climb up the table, were a disappointment and offered no serious threat in the time that remained.
