A second successive 0-0 draw was good enough to lift Carlisle United back into an automatic promotion place.
They now lead Northampton in the important third slot on goal difference and both have nine games left to play.
This second goal-less stalemate with Bradford City was in complete contrast to Saturday’s dour affair at Brunton Park against Stevenage.
In fact it was an entertaining contest despite no goals and it could have gone either way with City desperate to close the five point gap on the Cumbrians.
Both sides were totally committed with lots of effort, some good football but few real chances for either.
Carlisle looked the more likely side to score in the first half and Jack Armer was closest to breaking the deadlock when a strong shot across the keeper flashed just wide. Ryan Edmondson also tested Harry Lewis but the City custodian held his header.
Andy Cook, a former Carlisle United youngster, is the top scorer in League Two for City and he was the danger in the second-half when the home side stepped-up their response and were in control for long periods.
He came nearest to adding to his tally when he had a shot deflected off the bar but it was a former City player Jordan Gibson who almost won it for Carlisle right at the death when he struck the post.
