In a remarkable turnaround Barrow came from behind to beat AFC Wimbledon 2-1.
The Bluebirds had been sluggish, uninspiring and generally second beat in the first-half.
But in a stirring second-half Barrow drew level and then deservedly grabbed the winner to keep alive their hopes of a play-off place.
It was the Bluebirds’ top scorer Josh Gordon who scored the winner – his 12th of the season – to mark his return to the starting line-up from injury.
Wimbledon defender Luke Jenkins had put the visitors in front inside five minutes when he fired home as the southerners made a high-powered start. It was a well received goal as Jenkins was making his League debut.
Jenkins had been recalled from a loan spell at Hampton and Richmond Borough 12 days later. He had been left unmarked inside the penalty area and reacted smartly to fire in after Armani Little’s free-kick had fallen loose.
It was a dour first-half in which Barrow were very poor, managing only one shot throughout the whole 45 minutes.
But on the hour they drew level as the shape of the game changed and Barrow found the momentum that had been lacking earlier.
Skipper Niall Canavan got free of his marker at the back post and headed Ben Whitfield’s corner into the net.
Suddenly Barrow came alive and it was no real surprise when they edged in front on 74 minutes with Gordon thumping the ball into the roof of the net after good work by Sean Foley.
The defeat left Johnnie Jackson’s side winless in their last 11 games and plunging towards the relegation zone, although they still have 11 points in hand.
Barrow, on the other hand, lie tenth six points off the play-off positions.
