Cleator Moor Celtic face a hectic finish to the North West Counties League programme with three games in six days.
Manager Brian Dawson then says the hard work really starts in planning and preparing for next season.
“Our top priority over the summer has to be signing a striker who can add goals to our game. If we can get one in then I’m sure a successful season will lie ahead of us in whichever League we are in,” he said.
They lost 2-0 at South Liverpool yesterday to confirm they will finish bottom of Division One North and they now wait to see whether they will move to the West Lancashire League or stay where they are if no candidates to replace them pass stringent criteria over stepping up.
“It was the same old story unfortunately. We played some really good football on their 3G pitch and looked in total control.
“But as so often has happened we failed to make that final pass or convert our chances. Then we got hit with a sucker punch right on half-time through a poor refereeing decision.
“The boys came in at half-time up in arms and a little deflated. Then in the second half we had a little wobble for 20 minutes in which they scored again.
“But we managed to get control of the game again and squandered a couple of chances to make a game of it but once again we failed to take them.”
Cameron Glennon had scored for South Liverpool on 45 minutes and Oscar Billington added the second after 61 minutes.
Celtic go to Runcorn Town on Monday; make their shortest trip to Holker on Thursday and finish off at Garstang on Saturday.
Holker Old Boys lost 2-1 at home to Daisy Hill as their play-off hopes have seriously disintegrated over the last six weeks.
Luke Mitchell gave them a 57th minute lead but Daisy Hill won with goals from Harry Hatton (78) and Josh Tinker in the 89th minute.
Games are running out for the Old Boys who entertain South Liverpool on Monday.
