Huntsman’s Quartz could only finish second at Cobra Castle last night but that was enough to move him top of the HTA senior championship table.
Stephen and Ian Donaldson’s hound was beaten by Denis Pear and Jackie Gill’s Miterdale Duchess with Sophie Steele’s Miterdale Dusk finishing in third place.
The open puppy trail was won by Graham Reid’s Mel who now heads up the pups championship with two wins and a second place so far.
Jonty and Evie Moore and Jack Thompson’s Pigeon Bill finished well in second place with kennelmates Foxparke Majesty and Foxparke Sidekick finishing in third and fourth.
Unusually there were no runners for the open maidens race. The few that were entered withdrew as they wanted to avoid winning at that grade so early in the season.
The final race of the night was the All In with 16 runners and it was the puppy championship runner-up from 2022 Ned’s Gain, owned by Jonty and Evie Moore and Jack Thompson who won, followed in by Ian Rudd and Tony Jackson’s Kinniside Jacko and Kinniside Dan.
Action moves back to Oulton tonight with the first trail at 5.30pm.
