Cumbria start their County Championship campaign on Sunday when they travel to Burton to take on Staffordshire.
They are involved in Pool 1 of the Division Two section of the competition and will play away to Northumberland next Saturday while finishing off the group at home to Durham on May 20.
Selection is limited to players who ply their trade at Level Five and below so Cumbria do have some lads missing out as they are involved with clubs higher up the system.
Dan Bowman, who has been part of the coaching team at Kendal this year but had been involved with Cumbria county for a number of years, is head coach and is being assisted by Kendal club-mates James Gough (backs) and Gareth Gore (forwards).
The squad selected includes just three players who are with clubs outside the county – lock Matt Tindall (Firwood Waterloo), number eight Matt Atkinson (Jed Forest) and Will Addyman (Ilkley).
The squad’s performance manager Gary Hewer said: “Training has gone well leading into the game and the lads are ready to play.
“We have selected a blend of experienced players, some blooded last season and seven who will be on debut.
“We are travelling down on Saturday with a team run at Kendal when on to an hotel in Staffordshire.
“We are expecting a physical, fast open game but are travelling with confidence and ready for the challenges we face.”
The starting line-up will be: Jamie McNaughton (Penrith), Jay Rossi (Penrith), Leo Mercer (Kendal), Ryan Scott (Aspatria), Joe Beaty (Aspatria), Josh Ree (Kirkby Lonsdale), Ollie Rose (Upper Eden), Aaron Sullivan (Aspatria), Tom Graham (Carlisle), Joe Anderson (Kendal), Matt Tindall (Firwood Waterloo), Greg Wrathall (Kendal), Alistair Thompson (Kendal), Matty Houghton (Kendal), Matt Atkinson (Jed Forest).
Bench: Adam Howe (Penrith), Glen Cheshire (Kendal), Oliver Bennett (Upper Eden), Arran Stephens (Kendal), Archie Rattray (Penrith), Will Addyman (Ilkley), Andy Muir (Penrith).
Cumbria Women start their own Championship game in Burton, too, against Staffordshire and they are taking 24 players.
The squad includes three members of the Workington Finches team who triumphed at Twickenham on Monday – Hannah Thornbery, Nicole Benson and Juliet Porter.
The full squad is: Mag Todd (Keswick), Aimee Sharp (Kendal), Hannah Thornbery (Workington), Leanne Grave (Keswick), Jess Hetherington (Carlisle), Fiona Cowperthwaite (Penrith), Polly Bowman (Penrith), Siobhan Lamb (Keswick), Cath Sewell (Kendal), Nicole Benson (Workington), Talia Morton-Kemsley (Kendal), Vanessa Hagen (Carlisle), Hannah Farrell (Carlisle), India Brennan (Kendal), Sarah Pratt (Carlisle), Sarah Jenkins (Penrith), Amber Byers (Kendal), Sarah Wilkinson (Kendal), Susie Winter (Kendal), Juliet Porter (Workington), Phil Chadwick (Carlisle), Bethan Fearns (Keswick), Hayley Liddle (Carlisle), Sarah Smyth (Carlisle).
