A Kendal youngster is set to star in a racing documentary, following his progress in the karting world.
Logan Jones, eight, who is in year three at Dean Gibson RC Primary School, has been selected to star in series two of Driven Dreams, a documentary following young karters.
Logan is also about to launch his own YouTube channel showcasing his video diaries.
Logan discovered karting aged six and attended his older brother’s birthday party, hosted at TeamKarting in Rochdale.
He was instantly hooked and began karting weekly, chasing personal bests. In his first weekend he beat his PB three times over. He took his Association of Racing Karts Schools (ARKS) test before he was seven, far younger than the majority of young drivers.
He began racing in December 2021 in the Bambino Kart Racing winter series and immediately caught the attention of a number of racing teams keen to sign him.
Last year, racing in bambino class, he clocked a lap record at Wombwell, took P2 in the Wombwell Spring Series and P2 in the Wombwell Winter Series in MicroMax. He was also named driver of the day in round 1 of the Joe Dale Championship at Wombwell.
In October, Logan was selected to be part of the X-Kart Academy, providing coaching, mentoring and support for young drivers.
In December he was then asked to audition for the Driven Dreams series, and after being interviewed by producers in January, he has now been confirmed as a featured driver.
The production crew will follow Logan through six rounds of three day weekends across the UK.
This year, he will race in the Cadet Kart Championship, the Wombwell Independent Kart Racing and the Rowrah Independent Kart Club Championship.
Logan has strong support from his school, often taking his schoolwork to the track to keep on top of his studies whilst pursuing his racing goals. He has ambitions to get 10 IKR trophies this year, a championship trophy, and a dream of becoming an F1 driver with a full trophy cabinet.
He said: “I think I am a very good driver, and I am getting more confident the more support I get. Having sponsors helps me do even better, as we can buy better kit and I can then use my driving skills to move up the grid.”
Logan’s mum, Nico said: “I’m so proud of all my children, and when they excel and achieve what they set out to do, it’s just incredible. Logan has set his own goals so young, and at such a young age, it’s really rewarding to see him do this. We’re committed to supporting him as a family. He has me, his dad, his brother and sister and our dogs all set to travel in our motorhome to support him at every race.”
