Attempted arson attack at Ulverston discount store

Police are investigating after an attempted arson attack at an Ulverston discount store.

Firefighters from Ulverston were called out to tackle a small blaze on the roof of the Original Factory shop in the Gill yesterday morning, May 23.

Police said it had been reported that someone climbed onto the roof of the building with rolled-up newspapers and tried to start a fire.

Smoke was seen at around 9am. No one was injured.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed anyone in the area acting suspiciously around the factory shop between 8.30am and 9am.

Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it, quoting incident number 111 of 23 May 2023 or call 101 and request for your details to be passed to PC1730 Lindow.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
