Award-winning Cumbrian artisan bakers Lovingly Artisan will be in the national spotlight this weekend with an appearance on James Martin’s Saturday Morning.

Aidan Monks and Catherine Connor will be interviewed by the TV chef, when he will discover all things sourdough with the pair, who operate the bakery from Plumgarths, near Kendal and Altrincham Market, Manchester.

James spends time chatting with the couple about their business and the provenance of the ingredients they use. As well as finding out why they chose to specialise in hand crafted slow-fermented traditional breads, which they make using their 30-plus-year-old sourdough starter and only the finest natural ingredients.

Catherine Connor, co-owner of Lovingly Artisan Bakery said: ‘’We were totally beside ourselves when we were approached to be on James’s show, especially seeing as we’ve been huge fans for years.

“His passion for British artisan produce and the people who craft it has always resonated with us and to be able to chat with him and show a little bit of what we are about has been a real honour.’’

Martin also spends time discussing how Aidan and Catherine’s choice of ingredients defines the produce they create, from the organic ancient grains grown alongside Hadrian’s Wall to the barley and heritage malts and outstanding artisan produced ingredients they use across their range of nourishing and tasty breads.

You can watch James use the couple’s breads in his cooking on Saturday on ITV1, from 9.25am until 11.30am.
