Three Scottish clubs are reported to be monitoring the progress of Carlisle United centre back Morgan Feeney.
Aberdeen have been strongly linked with the 24-year-old defender but there is also said to be interest from Edinburgh rivals Hearts and Hibernian.
Hibs, in particular, have been referenced as Feeney spent time under manager Lee Johnson during his time at Sunderland.
Feeney, who started his career with Everton, missed out on the play-off final at Wembley last week because of injury when Carlisle secured promotion with a penalty shootout win over against Stockport County.
Born in Bootle, Feeney got a brief taste of senior football when he made his debut as a 18-year old in a UEFA Europa League tie against Atalanta in November 2017.
Following his release by the Toffees in 2020, Feeney spent six months at the Stadium of Light before signing for Carlisle, initially on a short-term contract in January 2021.
Since joining Carlisle he has played 87 times for the Blues over the last two seasons and has netted five goals.
Aberdeen manager Barry Robson, in particular, needs defensive reinforcements, with the departures of Mattie Pollock, Liam Scales and Hayden Coulson at the end of their loan deals.Ross McCrorie is also set for the exit door and is expected to complete a £2 million plus add-ons switch to Bristol City in the EFL Championship.
Feeney is one of five players offered new terms at Carlisle and who were given seven days to consider them.
