Cumbria scored their second win in the NCCA Trophy competition as they bid to reach the final for the fourth time in a row.
Following-up a last ball win by one wicket in Herefordshire, they had a bit more in hand this time as they beat Oxfordshire by six wickets at Kendal.
It was a comfortable win in the end with 7.2 overs and six wickets to spare, despite having to down a good Oxfordshire score of 284-8.
Although opener Sam Dutton fell early without scoring, Cumbria were able to build their reply on a partnership of 140 for the second wicket.
Fredd Fallows, playing only his second senior 50-overs game for the county, made a blistering 95 from just 51 balls – hitting 13 fours and five sixes.
Ben Walkden (60) then had Marcus Stables (33) for company as they took Cumbria to 200-4, leaving 85 wanted from 21 overs.
Skipper Mike Slack and Matt Sempill then set-about the task of taking Cumbria through to victory and they were able to achieve that relatively comfortably.
Sempill took the lead role and was 51 not out from 46 balls when victory was achieved with Slack 24 not out from 48 deliveries.
Earlier Chris Wright had made a splendid start to his county debut. The experienced former County Championship bowler removed three of the top order to leave the visitors on 39-3.
Opener Jamie Harrison (98) led the fight-back with strong support from Luke Hayes (50) and skipper Jonathan Cater (32) to get them to 233-8.
But Cumbria couldn’t finish the job from there as the ninth wicket pair of Prav Chahal (24no) and Darrel Williams (24no) frustrated them with an unbroken stand of 51 before they completed the 50 overs.
Fortunately it did not prove a significant obstacle to the Cumbrians as they recorded win number two in the competition.
Wright finished with 3-58 from his ten overs, while Slack took 2-36 and Matt Siddall had 2-50.
Cumbria complete their group programme with a trip to the Allandale club on June 18 to play Northumberland and a home game at Keswick against Lincolnshire on June 25.
