There was just a small field of runners for the senior trail at Wardhall as many owners opted for the shorter races later in the evening when it was slightly cooler.
Just four runners were slipped for the opener and only two managed to complete the course.
It was Denis Pear’s and Jackie Gill’s Miterdale Duchess who beat home Glenis and Raymond Farren’s Huntsman’s Rally.
The Championship leader Winterfell was being rested again and will probably compete on Thursday at Edges Green so the win for Miterdale Duchess took her to four points behind.
In the puppy race, 13 hounds taking part but there was no Rodney Raider or Silver Dream as they were also being rested following their run on Saturday at the Twice Brewed Show.
Consequently Graham Reid’s Mel was sent off favourite alongside his other hound Money Talks and James McClelland’s Glamorous Ava.

As they showed on the finish it was Robyn, Ellie, Grace Napier’s and Brook Butler’s Foxparke Honk Honk and Foxparke Fair Lady who just had an advantage over Glamorous Ava and Miterdale Diamond.
As they climbed up the finish it was tight between the two Foxparkes but it was Honk Honk who just got up to snatch her second win with Fair Lady finishing second. Glamorous Ava got up to take third with Foxparke Sidekick in fourth.
There were 24 runners in the Open Maiden race as owners who were eligible to run in that grade preferred to wait for the cooler conditions.
Foxparke Mysteriously went off favorite but as they showed in the bottoms it was Thorn Rose owned by Martin and Molly Burrows and Caroline Graham who came with a lead and finished well in front of the next hound Delta Spiral, owned by Sarah Harper.
Foxparke Mysteriously only finished in sixth place as the race was run four minutes faster than the open puppy trail.
The last race of the night was the All In which allows any hound to run over the shorter course regardless of what they have previously won.
This race was introduced to allow any hound that had been off for a while and unable to run in the shorter races an opportunity to build up their fitness again.
However they have been useful when the weather is hot like it has been as it allows the senior hounds to keep running but over a more manageable distance when the weather is not as hot as it has been.

There were 24 runners and although there is no betting allowed on these races it was still a good finish.
Foxparke Beep Beep just got up to beat Kinniside Bobby owned by Tony Jackson, Ian Rudd and Sophie Steele by a length and a half. Silver Streak finished in third place with Biff, Graham Reid’s other hound finishing in fourth place.
Action moves back up north and along the Military road on Thursday evening when the dogs run at Edges Green with the first trail slipping at 6pm.
It was confirmed at the week-end that this will be the venue for the HTA Premier Trails which will take place on the August 12 so many people may travel up to let their hounds have a look round prior to the big meeting taking place.
The scene is set for a busy few weeks with the International Hound trails taking place on the June 12 at Sewing Shields which is again along the Military Road and then the HTA Dog produce which will take place on the July 1 at Latrigg Tops, Keswick.
