Whitehaven coach Jonty Gorley wants to make the best use of an enforced break before his side go back into action.
York’s progress in the Challenge Cup means Haven have no game this weekend after just completing back-to-back victories in the Championship.
Gorley’s men followed up a super win at Sheffield with another outstanding effort to beat Widnes at the LEL Arena on Sunday.
The coach said: “To be honest there’s good and bad about no game this Sunday. It’s good that we have a number of knocks and injuries and they will have extra time to recover, but after two good wins you just want to go back out there and play again.
“I remember the last break we had was followed by three straight defeats so we have to use this one well and prepare well for what will be a big game at Keighley a week on Sunday.”
Haven are up to ninth in the Championship table and Gorley believes these last two victories have shown what the side is capable of.
“The coaching team have always believed in this group of players and maybe they are starting to believe in themselves as well.
“We have beaten two very good teams in successive games and a feature was our high completion rate. I have said from the start of the season if we could do that every week we are more than capable of matching most of the teams in the Championship,” he said.
Play-maker Jamie Doran was the latest casualty with a calf injury but Gorley hopes that he will be fit enough to resume at Keighley.
