Kendal Town continued their pre-season programme with a 6-1 win at Lostock St Gerard last night.
They remain unbeaten in their preparations for the North West Counties League which starts at the end of the month.
Manager Jimmy Marshall has looked at a number of trialists in the four games to date, and one of them – James Bailey had scored five goals in friendlies.
Last season he cracked in an incredible 46 goals in the Furness Premier League and has already carried that form into pre-season.
He scored three more in the win at Lostock and with last season’s top scorer Tom Kilifin, who was also the League’s leading marksman, moving on to Bury, he could have a key role at Parkside Road in the months ahead.
Also netting last night were a trialist, Chris Mather, and Brandon Croskell-Robinson.
Bailey had scored one of the goals as a trialist on Saturday when Kendal beat Whitehaven 7-0 to win the Billy Robson Memorial Trophy.
Billy, who died last year, has managed both clubs and was the most successful boss the club had in it’s days as Netherfield.
As well as Bailey, on target for Kendal were another trialist, Steve Yawson, Elliot Wilson, Jordan Monthe and Matt Flynn (2).
Kendal continue with another friendly tonight at home to Oldham Under-23s.
