Workington Comets number one Connor Bailey provided a solid contribution to Redcar’s 48-42 Championship win over Scunthorpe last night.
The new British Under-21s champion scored eight points, with two bonus points from his heat leader berth. He won two of his four rides and was third behind a team-mate in his other two outings.
Former Comet Charles Wright was the Bears’ top-scorer with 13 points as he won four of his races and was third in the other.
Workington’s current racer Luke Harrison was also in the team at reserve but he could only manage a point from his third and final ride.
Another former Comet, Simon Lambert, was in the Scunthorpe line-up but he could only manage two points – from two third places – from his five rides, which included a fall and exclusion, along with a mechanical problem retirement.
Consolation for Scunthorpe was that they took the aggregate point having won their home match 55-35.
