Tony Ferguson, of Dodd & Co

Dodd & Co senior accountant Tony Ferguson has been appointed as the new chair of Cumberland Society of Chartered Accountants.

The society of Chartered Accountants is part of the Northern Society of Chartered Accountants, which represents 4,000 Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales members and ACA students working in business and finance across the North East of England, Teesside, Northern Yorkshire, and Cumbria.

Tony, a qualified chartered accountant, has been with Dodd & Co since 2005, initially joining the tax team before moving into accounts.

He now heads up the firm’s small business start-up team and regularly shares his knowledge through events with the Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, the University of Cumbria and as an expert in residence for BIPC Cumbria.

He said: “I am honoured to have been selected as the new chair of the Cumberland Society of Chartered Accountants and I am really looking forward to contributing to the society’s work and working with my colleagues and members to support the accountancy profession in our region.”

He said he was keen to promote Cumbria as a great place to work and will be looking to forge links between members and host events which encourage the retention of talent within the area.

Alison Johnston, staff partner with Dodd & Co, said: “We are extremely proud of Tony’s appointment and have no doubt he will make an excellent chair. We look forward to supporting him with his role and seeing him work with others within the Society to further develop and support the profession in our region.”
