Workington celebrate winning promotion in front of 2,500 at Borough Park (Ben Challis)

Workington are 40/1 to win the NPL Premier Division title following their promotion from NPL West.

In the bookies prices released today the Reds are behind ten other clubs in the race for the championship.

Macclesfield, who won the NPL West title, are odds on at 8/11 to repeat that success in the higher tier.

Nearest challengers are predicted to be Worksop  (7/1) who went up after winning the NPL East title.

Workington’s old NPL West adversaries Warrington Rylands and Marine are both priced at 66/1.

Complete outsiders in the betting at 150/1 are Morpeth Town, whom Reds visit on Tuesday, August 15 – their first away fixture of the season.

So too are Ashton United who visit Borough Park in the first game a week on Saturday, August 12 along with Basford Utd, Whitby, Atherton Collieries and Marske Utd – also priced at 150/1.

Other prices are: Matlock Town 9/1, Redcliffe 10/1, FC United of Manchester 14/1. Bamber Bridge 20/1, Gainsborough Trinity 20/1, Hyde Utd 20/1, Bradford PA 25/1, Guiseley 33/1, Stafford Rangers 66/1, Ilkeston Town 66/1, Lancaster City 125/1.

In the opening games favourites Macclesfield visit Bradford PA while second favourites Worksop go to FC United of Manchester.
