Mobile phone signal outage in Egremont

People in Egremont are facing mobile phone signal disruption following a phone mast fault in the area.

Those using the O2 network are unable to make calls, send text messages or use mobile data – with some people claiming the issue has been ongoing for two days.

A number of other mobile phone networks using the same mast are also affected, including Tesco Mobile and Sky.

O2 engineers have been sent out to identify the fault but the firm have warned that service may come and go until it is fixed.

The firm is updating its website hourly on the status of the fault and is yet to issue a timescale for the fix.

An O2 spokesman said: “We apologise to residents in the Egremont area who may be experiencing intermittent issues with mobile phone coverage. We are sending an engineer to the site to further investigate and we will restore normal service as soon as we can.”
