Samling

A Lake District hotel’s restaurant has been named among the world’s best by a leading luxury travel website.

The Samling at Windermere features in Elite Traveler’s Readers’ Choice list of 2023, alongside venues including Le Gavroche, the Hand and Flowers, the Ritz and the Fat Duck at Bray.

It is the only restaurant in the north of England to feature.

Readers were asked to name their most memorable dining experience of the last 12 months and 85 restaurants were included in the list.

Elite Traveler says: “The Samling Restaurant is a culinary gem nestled amidst the breath-taking beauty of the Lake District. Renowned for its impeccable blend of gastronomy and natural splendour, this dining destination offers an unforgettable experience for food enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

“The Samling sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The restaurant prides itself on sourcing the finest local ingredients, creating dishes that showcase the essence of the region’s flavours with a modern twist. From succulent meats to fresh produce and artisan cheeses, every dish is a celebration of the Lake District’s rich culinary heritage.

“With the kitchen led by the talented Robby Jenks, The Samling was awarded a Michelin star in 2023. But beyond the culinary delights, the restaurant’s warm and elegant ambiance adds to its overall charm.”
