Brian Dawson has resigned as first team manager with West Lancashire League side Cleator Moor Celtic.
The former Barrow and Workington striker had taken on the role last season when Celtic were in the North West Counties League.
Celtic had won their first two games but have followed up with three defeats, culminating in Tuesday’s 3-1 derby defeat at Whitehaven.
Dawson told Cumbria Crack: “After the recent results I felt it was in everyone’s best interests for me to step down from my role as first team manager.
“If I’m honest it’s a decision that’s been coming for a number of weeks now. It feels like the club and I are starting to pull in different directions from the remit I was given when I first took the job.
“I’m disappointed I couldn’t see the job through but football is all about fine margins. We could have quite easily had a lot more points on the board this season but it obviously just wasn’t meant to be.
“I would like to thank the chairman and the club for the opportunity, all the coaches, and the players old and new for their efforts over the last 15 months or so.

“I would like to wish everyone at the club the best of luck in the future.”
On Saturday Celtic travel to Rossendale, who have drawn one (against Whitehaven) and lost one at home but have won three and drawn one away to sit sixth in the table.
For the game the Reserves management duo of Dean White and Stuart Shaw will take charge.
White has previously managed the first team in the Wearside League while Shaw has recently retired from playing because of injury.
