Cockermouth collapsed again for the second week in a row, conceding over 50 points, as Distington pushed their title claims in Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL.
It finished 52-0 this time, following last week’s 54-0 reversal at home to Lowca, and they face a battle to hang on to fourth place ahead of the play-offs.
The Titans have used around 50 players, mainly because in the last two or three weeks some quality players have had other commitments, notably with pre-season rugby union claiming them.
Distington had led 22-0 at half-time but powered away to more than double that advantage and maintain their clean sheet.
There were 10 tries led by Lewis Whitehead (3) and Jack Penrice (2) with other touchdowns from Scott Rooke, Harrison Riley, Scott George, Jack Worthington and Aiden Worthington.
Stephen Clark put over six conversions.
Lowca, meanwhile, kept up the pressure with a 26-16 win at Ellenborough A as they turned round a half-time deficit by scoring 14 unanswered points in the second-half.
It proved to be a good game between two well-matched sides who both had a good injection of youth playing alongside two old heads in each case.
In a topsy turvy first-half Elbra were first out of the traps with a try on six minutes through Shane Winder.
But four minutes later Lowca were in front when Ashton Briscoe got in for a try which was converted by Evan Hodgson.
Ellenborough regained the lead on 25 minutes with a try from Charlie Scott, converted by Brett Stevenson.
Things changed again on 32 minutes when Mitchell Todd nipped in for Lowca’s second try which Hodgson n to give the visitors a 12-10 lead.
Then right on half-time Elbra were back in front with a try by Aaron Lawson which was improved by Stevenson.
Seven minutes into the second-half the lead changed hands again as Todd scored his second try and Hodgson added the conversion.
But that was it now as Lowca tightened-up in defence and scored two unconverted tries in the 65th and 59th minutes to win the game. Keith Campbell and Luke Stockton were the scorers.
Wath Brow A are still in the title hunt after a 48-16 home win against Glasson Rangers.
But that represented a brave effort by the visitors as they had travelled with just the bare thirteen players.
They fought really hard all game and Matty Burns’ try at the start of the second half brought them back into the game.
However Wath Brow’s young under-16 Jake Greenough’s loose ball pick up on his own 10 metre line and race to the other end of the field to score under the posts really opened the door for the Brow.
They were able to add more points as they took advantage of having extra options against a very determined but tired Glasson side.
Hornets had scored two tries in the first eight minutes through Scott Pink and Peter Caddy, the second converted by Leyton Dockwray.
The outstanding Burns crossed for Glasson after 15 minutes and Luke Johnson added the conversion to cut the lead to 10-6.
But by half-time the Brow had pulled away to lead 26-6 with tries by Luke Davison (23), Caddy (33) and Rhomen Alick (38) – Dockwray converted the first two.
Glasson needed something and they got it four minutes into the second-half with Burns’ second touchdown, converted by Johnson.
But three minutes later Greenhough scored his splendid individual try, converted by Dockwray and that open the floodgates on a weary Glasson side.
On 64 minutes Caddy completed his hat-trick, and converted himself; Davison went in for his second after 68 minutes, with Caddy again converting and Kevin Christian crossed for the final try on 72 minutes.
There was just time for a third Glasson try four minutes from time by Thomas Dixon before their battling effort concluded.
