Former Workington rider Charles Wright is bidding for his second title inside a week tonight.

Wright and Danny King will be representing Redcar Bears in the Championship Pairs title at Oxford.

The Redcar boss Gavin Parr is confident of a successful defence of the title after Wright and Lewis Kerr won the event in 2022.

Kerr has now switched to the home club and Wright – who won last Sunday’s Championship League Riders Championship  – will be partnered by the highly experienced King.

Parr said: “Both of the boys made the Final on Sunday, they were both in the Pairs Final last year and they are both experienced riders so we stand a good chance.

“If we get through into the latter stages of a meeting we try to come up with a plan to get the heat advantage, which includes gate picks and where our boys ideally want to be on track, which is usually near the air fence for Charles and Danny!

“Last year, the support we had was absolutely phenomenal, I think we had the second biggest support there behind the home club Oxford and to win it was absolutely amazing.

“When we won the title, it was fantastic to have them all around to witness it and it will be fantastic to see them all again this time around.”
