Like brother Wayne, 32-year-old John started in the youth section at Everton before joining Macclesfield.

He then spent time with Wrexham and Guiseley before linking up with Barrow in 2018 where he scored 27 goals in 83 games.
After two years he moved to Stockport (20 goals in 55 games) before a brief return to Holker Street where he scored five goals in 27 games.

He will come into contention for Saturday’s FA Cup-tie when they visit Northern League side Whickham.
The Silkmen won the NPL West Division last season when Workington finished third and were promoted with them via the play-offs.
