Graeme Close, chairman of Cleator Moor Celtic, has resigned after almost two years in the role.
Close has said that his decision was for personal reasons and has thanked everyone associated with the club for their support during his time in the position.
He said: “In almost two years I have had some ups and downs and I believe I have made progression in some areas, and the club has so much potential.
“As you can imagine, stability in these unprecedented financial difficulties – mainly energy costs – have been my main focus.
“The Greener than Green project is one of the highlights.
“Seeing our junior players come together to work on a project to reduce our carbon footprint and ultimately reduce our energy costs was a delight to see.
“As a football club we have to see this fulfil its potential, to protect the environment for the future of these kids and also to ensure the club remains a financially viable asset that is a hub to over 500 members and associated families.
“I would like to wish the club all the best for the future. I will still be around to help and support the Hoops.”
Celtic lost their place in the North West Counties League last season and a slow start to life in the West Lancashire League prompted manager Brian Dawson to stand down.

Subsequently Celtic have won their last two games and have confirmed that Dene White will be the new man in charge with Daryl Fearon as his assistant.
Last season they worked together with the reserves and were successful in two Cup finals.
